My Next Chapter
In April 2020, I was doing what most others were doing: Sitting at home wondering when this Covid thing would be over.
In the meantime, I figured I’d create a Twitter account to pass the time. I settled on a name - John W. B. Rich (Wealthy)
John grew to over 200,000 followers over the next 3 years and was the launching point for my ghostwriting agency.
Throughout 2021, I added clients, experimented with pricing and deliverables, and had a nice little business by the end of the year.
I continued to grow the agency and, between client services and advertising deals on my parody Twitter account, hit $44k monthly revenue in May 2022.
By late June, I agreed to sell my business to one of my clients, Workweek, and join their team to spearhead the ghostwriting offering.
After working with Workweek over the last 13 months as they integrated my processes and rebranded to Signal, I’m stepping back today to focus on new projects.
Running an agency and working with a variety of clients has accelerated my understanding of content by years, and I’m grateful for the experience.
But I recently had a realization.
One of the best projects I ever worked on wasn’t a client at all.
I helped start a finance newsletter with a partner back in 2021. It quickly grew to 50,000 subscribers and became profitable immediately. While working on that newsletter, I made nearly as much from that one project as I did from 4 or 5 clients.
Looking back, it’s a no-brainer to launch more projects like that one.
Besides, my strength has always been starting new projects.
With that in mind, I’m launching a new project today: Get Rich Quick.
Right now, it’s just this newsletter and a few of the side projects that live in my head.
I’ll be doing 2 things:
Giving you an inside look at the ‘secrets’ of the world’s most successful content creators after having worked with many of them. I’ll show you the real details of how large audiences are built and how fortunes are made on Twitter.
Launching new projects, with one simple goal in mind: Getting Rich Quick. After all, isn’t that what everyone on social media is trying to do? Twitter users are obsessed with the stories of entrepreneurs who built up 7-figure businesses overnight or amassed 100,000 followers in just a few weeks. Let’s see if I can replicate that success with something new.
If you want to watch me launch newsletters, services, and SaaS projects, follow along. I’ll detail my successes and failures as much as possible to give you an inside look. And I’ll give you the inside scoop of the tricks that the biggest creators use to build their audiences and businesses.
Want to chat? Feel free to reply to this email and let me know what’s on your mind. I already have a few projects in the works, but I’m always open to considering some consulting or partnership opportunities.
